Please share your experience working with patients diagnosed with COVID-19
As a nephrologist I have had patients admitted to the hospital with COVID-19. They still require dialysis three times per week which for them is life sustaining. We have been dialyzing them in isolation to prevent others from getting infected. We are also seeing a large number of patients who are COVID-19 positive with acute renal failure. For these patients, we are providing acute and emergent dialysis. All patients who present with fever and shortness of breath are presumed to be COVID-19 positive until testing suggest otherwise. We are screening everyone who walks into our clinics with a questionnaire and temperature checks.
What advice would you give to people during this pandemic? Continue social distancing. Wash your hands any time you come from outside. Work on your own health with some form of physical activity daily.
God Bless you and protect you.
