Please share your experience working with patients diagnosed with COVID-19
I currently work on an ICU unit that has been turned into a biohazard unit specifically for COVID-19 positive patients. Before you step on the unit you must have on the proper PPE. Being around positive patients in an ICU, I mostly see them while they are intubated or on high flow oxygen. It has been extremely hard for these patients to breathe. Working with them has been very demanding and requires constant monitoring as they can quickly turn for the worst with challenges of recovering.
What advice would you give to people during this pandemic?
The advice I would give is to please stay home if you can. If you have to go outside wear a mask and stay 6 feet away from other people. Wash your hands constantly. Stay hydrated. Work on building a healthier immune system. Check on your loved ones. Stay positive!!
