Please share your experience working with patients diagnosed with COVID-19
None of my patients have actually been diagnosed with COVID-19. I currently am a practicing nurse practitioner in a long-term care assisted living facility. Our “front line” is a bit different from the acute-care hospitals, but the goal is to protect the older adults within the facility from contracting the virus as they are some of the most vulnerable. While these types of settings do not typically have the resources that acute-care hospitals have, the risk are still high for this population. We are practicing social distancing within the facility and have restricted visitation in the facility since the beginning of March.
What advice would you give to people during this pandemic?
Focus on the positives daily. Literally making it through another day is a blessing, and practice self-care as much as possible to protect your mental health. The emotional toll of the state of the world is quite heavy for everyone.
Praying for your safety – AGGIE PRIDE!!
I am so grateful for your dedication and compassion in caring for others. Stay strong and know that you work is deeply appreciated.
